Set of 12 sterling silver coffee spoons and sugar tongs, Walker & Hall, 1911

  
A beautiful set of Edwardian sterling silver coffee spoons and tongs (or nips), by Walker & Hall, hallmarked 1911. These lovely silver spoons and tongs were made by Walker & Hall of Sheffield, England. They carry a full set of hallmarks for 1911. The spoons and tongs have smooth lines with oval shaped bowls and a detailed pattern of beading and little medallions on the handles. Each piece is fully hallmarked on the underside. The set is boxed in the original case which is lined in purple plush and silk and covered in black leather. It fastens with a push catch.

The name Walker & Hall is printed on the purple silk inside the lid. Length of spoons - 10.5cm (4 1/8 inches). Length of tongs - 9.5cm (3 3/4 inches). Width of case - 28cm (11 inches).

Depth of case - 18cm (7 1/8 inches). Height of case - 3cm (1 1/4 inches). Each spoon and the tongs are in excellent condition with no damage or tarnishing. There are just a few light surface use marks here and there. The interior of the case is very good, the only wear being to the silk flaps that cover the case hinges, both of which have detached on one side.

The outside has some scuffs and marks as you can see in the photo. The catch is in good working order. A beautiful set to complete your after dinner coffee service! A lovely antique gift for a wedding or silver wedding anniversary.
