Here for your consideration is a rare, superb Victorian, fully hallmarked, sterling silver, lidded chocolate pot, of fluted baluster form, with exquisite floral, chased, repousse decoration, made by one of the best, late 19th century silversmiths, Martin, Hall & Co Ltd in 1886. This stunning chocolate pot features an aesthetic beautifully designed style, with finely applied stepped and ribbed decoration, with black ebony handle and swirl finial. A very attractive in appearance silver pot, designed in a very distinctive late Baroque, Rococo style. Absolutely stunning workmanship fully hallmarked RM over EH in a diamond cartouche for'Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall & Co Ltd', assayed in London with the leopards head, Queen Victoria's duty mark, lion passant, and the date letter'L' for 1886. Its also got the serial number 5873/3 base stamped.

Considering this beautiful lidded chocolate pot is 130 years of age, it's in very good original condition, with no splits or damage. The pot does have some beautiful silver age-related patination, commensurate with its 130 years of age, but nothing unusual. They specialised in candlesticks, claret jugs, cruets, dishes, flatware, inkstands, mugs, napkin rings, salvers, tazza's, tea and coffee services, tea caddies, trays, and chocolate pots. Height: 9.25 inches or 23.5 cm. Length: 6.5 inches or 16.5 cm (widest point spout to handle). Diameter: 3 inches or 7.6 cm (base).

Weight: 1lb 3 oz or 540 grams. A beautiful, original, Victorian silver pot. An extremely rare find indeed. I've only got one, once it's gone....
