ANTIQUE Sterling Silver Walker & Hall Art Deco Photo Frame 1922
ANTIQUE - Sterling Silver - Walker & Hall Art Deco Photo Frame - 1922. A fine and exceptional Art Deco sterling silver photo or picture frame, made by the firm of Walker and Hall. A premium quality example of Art Deco engine turning, this unusual, fancy frame and is in exceptional condition. The engine turned silver front wraps around to the sides, covering the oak wooden back. At the centre of the top is a circular, vacant cartouche. The back has a sturdy easel stand, secured with a chain. The silver is a good, strong and thick gauge of silver, so has retained its shape well and the engine turning remains very striking. Markings: Hallmarked to the base with the mark of W&H and dated Birmingham 1922, as per the images above. Size: Aperture is made to fit a 8" (20cm) by 6" (15cm) image, external dimensions 9 3/4" (25cm) by 7 1/2" (19cm). Condition: Item is in excellent condition, the silver is in good order, freshly polished but not overly polished, so the engine turning is still crisp and clear. The back is original, although has had a replacement strut, where the original screws are showing as holes. Holes are quite well hidden when the frame is standing on a surface.
