6 x GEORGE V STERLING SILVER COFFEE SPOONS, WALKER & HALL, SHEFFIELD, 1930

  
This is an elegant set of six George V Sterling Silver Coffee Spoons in the Queen Anne pattern. The spoons are in the Hanoverian style with upturned ends to the stems and have a small button or dog nose at the top of the stem above the reeded decoration. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind. The coffee spoons are made in Sheffield by world famous silversmiths Walker & Hall and date to 1930. Founded by George Walker in 1845, who was joined by Henry Hall in 1853 to form Walker & Hall. Manufacturing was done primarily in Sheffield and the firm had showrooms in London and other major UK cities as well as Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. The company was merged with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co in 1963 to form British Silverware.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 90 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs as these form part of the description. As you would expect from Walker & Hall, these are well made coffee spoons in a good gauge of silver. Each spoon is 10.3cm long and the set of six together weighs in at a substantial 72g of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the undersides of the stems are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter n for 1930 and the W & H makers' mark for Walker & Hall.
